HAND WASHING AGAINST COVID-19

HAND WASHING AGAINST COVID-19

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is spread through contact and respiratory droplets. Therefore, the spread of coronavirus can be contracted directly and indirectly by contact with surfaces that are in the immediate environment of the infected person or with objects that have used it.

That is why not only surface disinfection is important but constant hand washing.

At BLASI Clínica Dental Barcelona we want to answer some of the questions that arise regarding hand washing.

How long should handwashing last?

Handwashing must take at least 30 seconds to be effective. The disinfecting gel should be applied for 20 seconds and run over all surfaces of the hands.

When should I wash my hands?

It is recommended to wash your hands after the following situations: after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after visiting public areas; after touching any surface outside home, before and after coming into contact with anyone; before and after eating; before and after going to the bathroom; and whenever you see that your hands are dirty.

How should I wash my hands?

First of all we must wet our hands with running water. Once wet, apply enough soap and space and rub all surfaces of the hands (back, space between fingers and nails). Rinse well with water for 30 seconds while we continue rubbing. Finally, dry ideally with paper towels.

Does hydroalcoholic gel replace hand washing?

Hydroalcoholic gel is not a substitute for hand washing with soap. Also, alcohol hand sanitizer kills the coronavirus, but not all types of bacteria and viruses. For example, it is relatively ineffective against norovirus and rotavirus.

At BLASI Clínica Dental Barcelona we are taking all the pertinent precautions for the prevention of contagion of coronavirus COVID-19.
